White meadowsweet oil is obtained from the seeds of the Limnanthes alba plant , a herbaceous wildflower found near the watersheds of Northern California, Southern Oregon, and Vancouver Island.

It is an extremely stable oil with a long shelf life, making it ideal for a wide range of industrial and cosmetic applications.

The extremely high concentration of unique long-chain fatty acids makes this oil beneficial for skin and hair, as well as extremely resistant to oxidation and heat stress.

As a base oil, white meadowsweet is intensely emollient with a light texture that is suitable for all skin types.

The oil is ideal for use in skin care products for hydration, in sunscreen formulas, and in hair care products to achieve a smooth and silky texture.

Application and action

Emollients maintain hydration by locking in moisture in the skin and hair. This helps maintain a soft and supple look and feel. White meadowsweet oil is known to work in a similar way to the natural sebum that the skin produces, making it particularly effective at sealing in moisture. It also helps balance the skin's natural oil production, contributing to a more even complexion.

As an added benefit, compared to many other oils, white meadowsweet has a unique velvety texture that does not leave a greasy film. This gives it greater versatility for topical application, as it is suitable for all skin types, and makes it an even more popular choice for inclusion in cosmetics. It is also considered safe for daily use and in combination with other oils for skin and hair care.

Antioxidants and fatty acids are the stars of this oil, turning it into a feast for skin and hair, endowing them with rich moisturizing properties and a luxurious texture. This oil also contains the glucosinolate derivatives, 3-methoxybenzyl isothiocyanate (MBITC) and 3-methoxyphenyl acetonitrile, which have been shown in controlled laboratory studies to inhibit the enzymes that break down collagen in the skin and help offset the effects of UVB light exposure . This makes the oil a popular ingredient in natural cosmetics in antiaging formulas and sun protection products.

In addition to its rich emollient properties, the skin benefits of white meadowsweet oil include helping to reduce the appearance of stretch marks, scars, fine lines and wrinkles to promote a vibrant and rejuvenated appearance.

Used in hair care, this oil is known to help tackle brittleness, tangles, dullness and breakage, promoting silky smooth texture and vibrant shine.

The highly stable nature of the oil makes it an even more attractive ingredient in body care products. White meadowsweet oil has the highest concentration (about 98%) of any base oil of the long-chain fatty acids docosenoic acid and docosadienoic acid , which are rarely found in vegetable oils and are the most resistant to rancidity when exposed to oxygen or heat. This gives the oil a long shelf life without compromising its effectiveness.

White Meadowsweet Seed Oil is extremely versatile and is used in a wide variety of cosmetic products. Because it absorbs easily and has a strong resistance, it is suitable for products intended for outdoor use and can provide the skin with some protection against the stress of external factors. Some of its many uses include tanning lotions, massage oils and lotions, hand and face creams, hair and scalp products, cuticle repair creams, makeup foundations, blushes, face powders, lipsticks and balms, shampoos, shaving creams and various other body balms.

White Meadowsweet Seed Oil can be applied directly to the skin or hair to moisturize and maintain hydration. As a carrier oil, it can be added to body care recipes or used as a base for aromatherapy massage. A suitable ingredient for various blends, as it mixes very well and improves the consistency and texture of moisturizing products.

Due to its extremely high stability, it is also known to extend the shelf life of less stable ingredients, making it an excellent addition to a variety of bath, make-up, skin care and hair product mixes. Combined with other less stable but very valuable carrier oils such as almond or evening primrose, it can help preserve their quality, extend their shelf life and ultimately save you money. It's also a great substitute for jojoba oil with a slightly richer texture, so those who are fans of jojoba oil might want to consider giving it a try.

Physical Application: Dry and rough skin, suitable for all skin types, hair carePhysical action: Antioxidant, emollient, hydrating, smoothing, nourishing, protective

One of the simplest ways to incorporate this oil into your beauty routine is to add a few drops to your daily moisturizer after cleansing your skin. Since it has a low comedogenic index (1), it is suitable for use on all skin types.

For those with dry skin, it is recommended to apply a few drops of pure white meadowsweet oil to cleansed skin for extra hydration at night. Alternatively, you can make a hydrating and balancing face mask by adding a few drops of this oil to facial clay. Applied regularly, this mask can help regulate oil production and deal with inflammation, while hydrating and softening the skin.

White meadowsweet oil is a great base for an exfoliating body scrub that cleanses and smoothes the skin. To continue the luxurious treatment, this oil can be massaged into the skin after a bath for deep full-body hydration, feeling sensuously soft and smooth with no sticky residue. To boost your post-bath body massage with some mood-balancing benefits, mix in a few drops of a soothing essential oil, such as lavender or frankincense.
