What is an essential oil diffuser?

It is a device that diffuses essential oils into the air and can be used as a coziness supplement in your home.

How to work with an essential oil diffuser?

The device works according to different diffusion processes:

Ultrasonic diffuser for essential oils

Ultrasonic essential oil diffusers rely on the so-called "cold" system. They transform the essential oils into a light mist, thanks to the ultrasonic disc, through fine vibrations the mixture of water and oils is spread in the air.

Nebulizer

Nebulizing diffusers work by blowing air under high pressure through small tubes that contain essential oil. This jet of air turns the oil into a fine mist and disperses it around the room. Suitable for very large rooms.

Heat diffuser for essential oils

Elegant heated aromatherapy diffusers use a heat source placed below the reservoir containing the essential oils. The flame (candle) heats the oils and thus enhances their diffusion. You can also find models that offer gentler heat provided by electric current.

Ventilation diffuser for essential oils

Vent diffusers work through a cold air system similar to a working fan. In this way, light ventilation allows the essential oils to spread in the air, as they are driven by a more or less strong and dispersed air current.

Aroma stone for passive diffusion

Unglazed ceramic is very porous, so it absorbs and releases aromatic oils very well. Ceramic diffusers are often worn as jewelry or as an addition to the home. It is a good practice to place the aroma stones near you, as their range is several meters. They are easy to carry and suitable during vacation, in the hotel room or at work, as well as for scenting the bathroom.

Room sprays

Whether you prefer to pick up a ready-made product or make the blend at home, room sprays are perfect for quickly diffusing essential oils. They are suitable for the moments when we will spend a little time in the room and it would be pointless to turn on a diffuser. They can also be used in small rooms, where they will saturate the air.

The question that everyone asks themselves is - which of the above should we choose?

When choosing your essential oil diffuser, we advise you to consider the following criteria:

The process of diffusion

Essential oil diffusers that use a cold system (atomization, ventilation) have the advantage of not changing the quality of the essential oils, whose composition remains unchanged during the diffusion process. Heated diffusers are silent and bring extra coziness, but when heated, the oils can lose their beneficial properties. Ultrasonic diffusers, and especially those that use atomizing processes, sometimes emit a very mild non-irritating sound, and when the diffuser is of poor quality, it can also wet the surface on which they are placed.

It is also important to consider the temperature at which the oils are heated. Unlike diffusers that heat the oils with a flame, those with electricity control the heat, which is extremely important to preserve their aromatherapy properties – such is the Simply Silent thermo-aroma diffuser.

The coverage area of each essential oil diffuser

The area they cover is the second most important criterion to consider. In fact, this very parameter affects its price and size - smaller diffusers are designed for a smaller area. Ultrasonic diffusers are suitable for larger rooms in the home or office. An important factor for coverage of a certain area is the power of vaporization, and with the higher class diffusers, such as Primavera's Feel Happy, there is the possibility to adjust the power to different degrees.

The type of bath diffuser (rechargeable, portable)

Some diffusers come in a compact and portable format that allows you to easily carry them with you (while traveling, in the office, etc.). They are practical and affordable, but cover a smaller area. Their advantage is the absence of a cable – battery-powered diffusers can be moved around the room without needing to have an electrical outlet nearby, such is the Traveler.

The design of the diffuser (materials, shape)

There are many different diffusers available in different materials: ceramic, glass, plastic, etc. Their choice is essentially a matter of taste. The plastic diffusers that we offer in the MaKaSa store are made of BPA free – a high-quality material that does not contain polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. This is essential when using essential oils. We recommend that you choose a model that will limit the contamination of the diffuser and increase its life. There are models that are made so that with prolonged use, the space (diffusion disc) intended for the diffusion of oils is blocked. In the MaKaSa store, we have selected the models that we offer according to materials, price and quality.
