In aromatherapy, Douglas fir oil is a powerful companion during the cold season, as its scent invites you to take a deep breath. It also puts a smile on your face, fills you with good mood and gives you self-confidence. Contrary to what the name Douglas fir might suggest, it does not belong to the spruce family. Botanically, it forms its own genus, called Pseudotsuga.

The Douglas fir, also known as the Douglas fir, is an evergreen coniferous tree. It originally originated in North America, but has been cultivated in Europe since the 19th century and now inhabits 4% of the forests in Germany. The most famous, oldest Douglas fir in Germany, called “Waltraud vom Mühlenwald”, can be seen in the Freiburg city forest. It is about 110 years old and at over 66 meters tall it is considered the tallest tree in the country. Its needles, about 4 cm long, have a pleasant forest scent with a citrus note.
