Body scrub – Citrus detox
The Citrus Detox Body Scrub removes dead skin cells, leaving your skin smooth and soft to the touch. The fruit acid from the citrus peel softens calloused areas on the feet, palms of the hands and elbows, and the sea salt massage stimulates blood circulation in the skin. Contrast showers also promote blood circulation and tighten the skin. It is best to start with warm water and then move to the coldest water possible. Repeat the process several times, ending with cold water. When using citrus essential oils, also follow the rules for phototoxicity and safety.
What do you need?
Ingredients needed for Citrus Detox Body Scrub
- 125 g fine-grained sea salt
- 25 ml organic almond oil
- 6 drops lemon essential oil
- 3 drops organic cypress essential oil
- 1 unpeeled citrus fruit (eg organic lemon, organic grapefruit, organic lime)
- Kitchen scales
- Kitchen grater for grating the lemon peel
- Bowl for mixing the ingredients
- Glass container for storage if needed
How to prepare?
Difficulty level: beginner
Grate the zest of the citrus fruits and place in a bowl. Add the sea salt and mix. Mix the almond oil with the cypress and lemon essential oils and add to the sea salt and citrus zest. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
Usage
The finished mixture does not require preservation, so use within 2 months if possible.
Massage about 2 tablespoons of the body scrub onto damp skin once a week in the shower. The massage should be done in circular motions. When using the scrub, do not use shower gel or soap so that the oils can unleash their nourishing effect. You can read more about the benefits of a body scrub on the blog.
